Is C(s) + O2(g) -> CO2(g) an oxidation-reduction reaction?

Unlike other cases like 2Na + Cl2 -> 2NaCl where Na loses an electron and Cl gains one, (ionic bond) C and O2 do not lose electrons, but they share them. In this case is it also considered an oxidation-reduction reaction?
