IP address?

I am currently monitoring my boyfriends computer because he denies he is addicted to . He commented one day that all he has to do is go into under a different IP address on his computer, then I would not detect it. Can you change the IP address on your personal computer so you can go in and it can't be detected by E-Blaster? (that is the dectecting program I am using) And how is this done?
